In PETRICHOR (2023/2025), Robert Seidel merges digital projection, sound, water, and fog to create a living atmosphere of abstraction. The artwork transforms natural and architectural elements into a painterly environment in which light behaves like an unpredictable liquid. Combined with Nikolai von Sallwitz’s intricate soundscape, the constantly shifting composition becomes part storm, part meditation. Seidel, known for blending scientific precision with poetic intuition, uses technology as a tool to create emotional landscapes rather than spectacles. The installation’s ethereal surfaces serve as both canvas and veil, dissolving images into choreographed displays of natural and artificial weather phenomena. PETRICHOR reimagines the sublime for the digital age, inviting viewers to stand within an ever-changing landscape where color, motion, and air converge into quiet awe.
