Nocturnal Visions

Federico Acciardi’s Nocturnal Visions (2023) is a video installation documenting the often invisible wildlife ecosystem of Riyadh. Using night vision cameras set up in various locations across the city, Acciardi has captured dimly-lit portraits of often elusive nocturnal species, illuminating the disappearance of natural spaces from urban life.

Acciardi highlights how light pollution in our cities blinds us to the crucial role of nature and its systemic elimination from urban spaces. In Nocturnal Visions, the artist offers a window to our rapid departure from nature due to our concrete redefinition of the concept of home.
