Ali Jabbar (b. 1963) is a Danish-Iraqi artist working across sculpture, painting, and curation, whose practice bridges the artistic traditions of Iraq and Northern Europe. He studied art in Baghdad and later in Copenhagen, and that dual formation has shaped a body of work that moves between figurative monumentality and abstraction. He has participated in the Baghdad, Cairo, Tehran, Grand Palais, and Sharjah biennales, as well as the X Florence Biennale. Jabbar’s artworks are held in significant public collections, including the Baghdad Arts Museum, the Silkeborg Museum, the Fletcher Museum, and the Kirkeby Museum in Denmark, the Drammen Museum in Norway, the Tehran Contemporary Art Museum, and the Beirut Contemporary Art Museum. He has won four prizes in sculpture and three prizes in painting over the course of his career. He has held twelve solo exhibitions and participated in more than ninety group exhibitions in around forty countries, and alongside his studio practice he works as a curator, a role through which he has contributed to the presentation of Arab and diasporic art internationally.
