The Lighthouses

Tuwaiq Sculpture Collection

YEAR

2021

The Lighthouses (2021) by Anna Korver is a granite sculpture that explores the relationship between identity, place and the feeling of home. Conceived as a triptych, the work combines architectural references with forms inspired by the traditional dress of Saudi women. Its title draws on the lighthouse as a symbol of protection, safety and orientation.
Carved as three upright figures, the sculpture uses angular planes, changing proportions and spaces between its forms to create a sense of interaction. Their arrangement suggests both individual presence and collective connection, while the white marble responds to shifting light and shadow. Movement around the work reveals changing relationships between the three elements.
Installed within the King Abdulaziz Historical Center, The Lighthouses connects personal identity with the cultural character of place. The sculpture presents home not only as a physical setting, but as something carried through memory, dress and shared experience.
