With his artwork Signal Mirage (2025), Saeed Gebaan transforms scientific precision into sensory uncertainty. The work reflects digital ambiguity, how information promises clarity yet dissolves into distortion. Set in a dimly lit room, a transparent structure made of chemically interactive material pulses with refracted light, echoing the form of fiber optic cables.
Through optical illusion, refracted light, and responsive sound, the installation creates shifting waves of color and vibration that seem to reveal meaning while simultaneously erasing it. Each signal becomes both message and distortion, a fragment of perception looping through endless feedback. Drawing from his background in industrial engineering, Gebaan merges technology and intuition to question what it means to understand in an age of overload.
The result is a luminous paradox: an artwork that glows with knowledge yet flickers with doubt, mirroring the unstable horizon of a hyperconnected world.
