Titled Nkyekyen a ebeba (Trace of what to come) and conceptually grounded in the Adinkra symbol “Bi Nka Bi” (Peace and Harmony), this sculpture acts as a bridge between West African tradition and contemporary global discourse. Carved from Royal Gold granite, the work integrates influences from the minimalist wood sculptures of the Lobi people and the historic bronze heads of Nigeria. It transforms these indigenous motifs into a monumental form that questions conflicting sociopolitical politics and explores themes of authenticity. The title, translating to “Let no one bite their neighbor,” serves as a plea for justice and unity. By recontextualizing these symbols in stone, the artist creates a “universal marker” that highlights the grandeur of human similarities amidst cultural differences. The sculpture is a meditation on the architecture of coexistence, inviting viewers to reflect on identity and the collective construction of a harmonious future.
