LOVE (Red Outside, Blue Inside) (1966 -1998) by Robert Indiana translates the artist’s well-known typographic composition into a three-dimensional sculptural form. The stacked letters, including the tilted “O,” explore how language can operate as both text and object. The sculpture reflects Indiana’s interest in the cultural and visual resonance of simple words and their ability to shift meaning when placed in public settings. Installed in the Arrival Plaza at KAFD, near the KAFD Metro Station, LOVE (Red Outside, Blue Inside) interacts with pedestrian movement and the surrounding contemporary architecture.
