Wang Yuyang suspends fluorescent tubes in a precise digital cascade that simulates a feather drifting through air. The tubes flicker sequentially, translating gravity into algorithmic rhythm. Viewers encounter not only the suspended sculpture but also a computer that continuously calculates and visualizes new trajectories of the falling tube, each run generating a unique drawing that echoes the variability of natural movement. Light, Floating Down Like a Feather (2025) blurs the line between physics and poetry, inviting the viewer to witness thought made luminous. Each glow lasts just long enough to suggest touch, then releases. Yuyang’s practice, bridging technology and perception, here becomes intimate: a coded gesture that feels human. By transposing a digitally simulated process into physical form, the work explores how algorithmic systems can capture the delicate unpredictability of natural phenomena. The installation reminds us that technology’s true lyricism lies not in control but in empathy, revealing its ability to mirror nature’s quiet complexity through engineered light.
