A pulse of air drifts across the room, leaving behind a fleeting, perfect ring of mist. In Le Silence des Particules (2018), translated as The Silence of Particles, Guillaume Cousin sculpts the very air itself, creating delicate whirlwinds that appear, meander, and dissolve. The gesture is elemental — pressure, form, release — yet each ephemeral ring becomes both sculpture and breath, a visible echo that slowly drifts away until it vanishes entirely.
The installation demands quiet attention, inviting viewers into a space where physics transforms into poetry. By rendering the invisible momentarily tangible, Guillaume Cousin reminds us of the impermanence of presence, of how beauty often exists at the edge of disappearance — fleeting yet unforgettable. Each passing ring is a meditation on temporality, a whisper that lingers just long enough to touch the imagination before fading into silence.
