Flowing (2024) by Arno Avilés is a granite sculpture that examines fluidity in physical, mental and spiritual existence. The work considers how separate elements connect within a complete composition, presenting change as necessary to adaptation. Its title directs attention to continuity, movement and openness as circumstances evolve.
Carved from granite, the sculpture is composed of repeated angular forms arranged across a horizontal base. Their layered profiles rise, overlap and shift in scale, creating a rhythm that carries the eye through the work. Despite the stone’s weight, the sequence appears mobile, while openings between the elements allow light and surrounding space to enter the composition.
Installed at Science Park, Flowing introduces a reflection on imagination and adaptability within a setting associated with knowledge and discovery. The work connects formal understanding with creative thought, suggesting that progress depends on remaining true to one’s nature while responding to change.
