Coexistence explores the concept of the urban fabric as a harmonious assembly of diverse elements. Taking Riyadh as a model, the sculpture combines varied masses of Green granite with polished steel. The granite blocks, differing in scale and orientation, symbolize the city’s deep-rooted identity and stability. In contrast, the steel components represent the modern, shifting present, reflecting light and the surrounding world to signify interaction and openness. The artwork creates a complementary relationship between these materials, defining modernity not as a break from the past but as an accumulative process. Coexistence functions as a critical visual discourse, viewing the city as an active space for negotiation. It posits that diversity does not contradict harmony but is essential to it, aiming to enhance the quality of life and shape a more humane urban future.
