Atmospheric Seeing, 2025

Noor Riyadh

YEAR

2025

LOCATION

King Abdulaziz Historical Center

Atmospheric Seeing (2025) is an interactive projection artwork that uses historical and live data, NO2 levels and live weather input, to create an immersive environment. The project is part of a larger investigation into invisible atmospheric data carried out in various global cities over the years. This research-based artwork addresses science, technology, communities, and ecologies in order to imagine future human existence. The installation is site-specifically conceived for Noor Riyadh and makes invisible particles visible to the human eye. Spectators will observe particles as an illusory architecture and experience otherwise unseen to the naked eye, as if walking through them. Invited to step inside a neutral environment, spectators become the center of the digital installation. A body-tracking system allows their bodies to control the installation and its data visualization through movement – primarily head and body movements – in the three dimensions of the box.
