Raya Kassisieh is a Jordanian artist living between Amman and London. With a background in textiles from Pratt Institute and an MA in Sculpture from the Royal College of Art, her practice engages with the dissonance of contemporary life through a phenomenological lens. She views the body as a pliable form for reimagination, articulating issues of autonomy through liminal states. Utilizing both soft and hard materials—ranging from steel and copper to silk and wool—she investigates the dissolution of the human condition and its potential for radical transformation. Her key influences include Post-minimalism and artists such as Eva Hesse and Louise Bourgeois. Kassisieh’s work proposes that art is a tool for contemplating the ongoing renegotiation of being, often addressing themes of grief, nature, and post-nature within her installations and sculptures.
