Nilhan Sesalan is a highly experienced sculptor whose work acts as a conduit between feeling and form. Educated at Mimar Sinan University, she has spent four decades exploring a vast array of materials, from ice and straw to bronze and stone. Sesalan characterizes her art as the point where “matter and immaterial merge,” synchronizing her thoughts with the materials she shapes. Her recent themes focus on migration, ecosystems, and the search for a reef or sanctuary, drawing parallels between underwater biodiversity and human survival. She has exhibited extensively in solo and group shows across Türkiye and Europe, and participates in numerous international symposiums. Her approach is poetic and intuitive, aiming to create sculptures that resonate with the heartbeat of the modern world while leaving a lasting, harmonious trace on the environment.
