Jamal Rahim is a celebrated Bahraini artist whose self-taught journey took him from Muharraq to India and across Europe. While renowned for establishing one of the Gulf’s most important printmaking workshops, he has a profound dedication to stone carving, which he describes as “spiritual training” that brings indescribable joy. His practice is rooted in realism and classical figurative traditions, yet heavily influenced by Eastern thought and calligraphic rhythms. He believes every stone holds innate beauty needing only a few touches to be revealed. Rahim’s career includes participating in the Arab-Chinese Friendship Park and having works acquired by prestigious institutions like the British Museum. His sculpture Drops of Water reflects his ability to capture movement and infinite rhythm in hard material, transforming stone into a contemplative visual form.
