Carole Turner’s sculpture is defined by a commitment to monumentality and formal coherence. Working primarily in stone for large-scale projects, she employs a language of “unchained geometry” where abstract, figurative, and architectural elements converge. Her dominant forms—often cylindrical—act as structural units and conceptual containers for memory. Turner views the sculptural process as translation rather than refinement, allowing the scale and material reality to assert the work’s presence without relying on narrative. Her influences are rooted in modernist sculpture and Post-minimalism, evident in her use of repetition, restraint, and attention to silhouette. Having works in collections across 26 countries, she approaches public art with a responsibility toward site and longevity.
