Sounds of the Universe (2021) by Aleksandar Eftimovski is a granite sculpture that translates sound into form. The work develops from the artist’s research into frequencies and oscillations found in nature, extending this investigation beyond Earth to stars, planets and galaxies. Its title connects scientific observation with the scale and mystery of the universe.
Carved from granite, the sculpture is composed of repeated circular planes arranged along a horizontal axis. Variations in their diameter and spacing create rhythm, transforming a two dimensional oscillation into a three dimensional structure. As light moves across the sequence, shadows emphasize its intervals and reinforce the impression of a waveform held within stone.
Installed within the King Abdulaziz Historical Center, Sounds of the Universe brings a reflection on cosmic phenomena into a public setting. The work connects the permanence of granite with invisible frequencies, giving material presence to forces that extend beyond human perception.
